Going deep

read something in a book that got me thinking today, "As we go deeper in God, He enlarges our capacity for understanding".

Ok this confuses me, how exactly do we go deeper with God, This statement reminds of when people tell you to just believe. Well if you dont believe and you are having trouble believing is hard to just drop your disbelief and turn around in your thinking. Usually its a process to change from one mindset to another.

So I guess going deeper with God is kind of like going deeper with my wife. The more time I spend with her, listening to her , the deeper our relationship grows. But in my life the best way to develop a deep relationship with people, is to go through something HARD with them. If it is a time of struggle and tons of issues and you are able to work things out together you are almost best friends.

The hard part with God is, so much of what he does it tied into other people, and most of his work is from behind the scenes. If only he would announce when he was about to speak or tell me, "ok now im going to move in this situation", then I would be sure to pay attention.
